Malikaih Lucas Marquez, a devoted family man and skilled tire technician, passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2026, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Born on August 6, 2003, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Malikaih’s life, though tragically cut short, was marked by dedication to his craft, deep family bonds, and a passion for building fast cars and motorcycles.
Malikaih was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima in Santa Rosa, where his faith and community were central to his life. He grew up in Santa Rosa before moving to Tucumcari, where he was currently employed as a tire technician at Love's Travel Stop. His education journey took him through Santa Rosa Elementary School, Barry Elementary, and Yucca Middle School, shaping the foundation for his thoughtful and hardworking character.
Known for his mechanical talents, Malikaih had a love for building and refining fast vehicles, a hobby that mirrored his energetic and meticulous nature. Beyond his personal interests, he cherished time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, with whom he shared countless joyful moments. His close relationships with his brothers were a source of great pride and happiness.
He leaves behind a network of loving and grieving family. His parents, Teresa Lasky and David Marquez, stand as pillars of strength amidst this profound loss. His girlfriend, Janiah Gallegos, is remembered for her unwavering support and companionship. Malikaih’s brothers Luis Gallegos (with Angelica Felix), Alonso Gallegos, and sister Kandice Romero, along with their children—nieces Z'Aleah and Z'Aleanah, nephews Luis, Jr., Immanuel, Damien Gallegos, Aliana Gallegos, and Julian Romero—survive him and carry forward his spirit. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Priscilla Olguin, and paternal grandparents David and Sylvia Marquez, Sr., as well as his maternal great-grandmother, Claudia Olguin. The extended family, including aunts Jennifer Romero and Jana (Adam) Chavez, uncles Jason Romero and Ernest Marquez, and numerous cousins and friends, share in mourning the loss of a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Malikaih was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Macedon Romero; paternal great-grandmother, Clarita Marquez; and father-in-law, Joseph Gallegos. Their memories remain cherished within a family bound together by love and remembrance.
Pallbearers will include; Luis Gallegos, Alonso Gallegos, Matthew Hoehne, Samuel Lopez, Andres Valdez, Jason Romero, Gabriel Martinez, Carlos Robles, Jason Romero, Jr., KristyAna Chavez and Bruce Muniz. Honorary Pallbears are; Z'Aleah Gallegos, Z'Aleanah Gallegos, Luis Gallegos, Jr., Immanuel Gallegos, Damien Gallegos, Aliana Gallegos, Ely Hoehne, Lucas Riojas, Aubrey Nava and Julian Romero.
