Manuel Lozano, 70 of Vaughn, NM, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Manuel was born on November 23, 1953, in Galeana, Chihuahua, Mexico to Roman Lozano and Dolores (Mendoza) Lozano.  

Manuel was raised in Galeana, where he also married the former Irma Jimenez on November 8, 1977.   Manuel worked in construction and as a ranch hand with various ranches in Vaughn and the surrounding area.   Manuel was also a volunteer firefighter with the Duran Volunteer Fire Department.

Manuel was an individual who loved to drink coffee, while visiting with family and friends.  He loved livestock—such as cattle, horses, and chickens, and enjoyed working with them.  He also enjoyed cruising and will always be remembered as a person who always thought of others, first.  However, Manuel’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson: Saulito Lozano, and siblings: Jose Lozano, Celia Lozano, Leonor Lozano, and Teresa Lozano.

Manuel is survived by his wife: Irma, of the family home, his children: Oscar Lozano, of Roswell, NM, Omar Lozano, of Vaughn, Jaime Lozano of Vaughn, Nubia Lozano (Ramon Hernandez), of Cloudcroft, NM and Eric Lozano of Scottsdale, AZ.  Manuel is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, family, and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, April 12, 2024, beginning at 11AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM.   Fr. Sotero Sena will be officiating the service.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, in Vaughn, with Omar Lozano, Jaime Lozano, Eric Lozano, Oscar Lozano, Martin Lozano, Ramon Hernandez, Alfredo Medina, Jessie Maestas and Roman Rodriquez serving as Pallbearers.  Honorary Pallbearers will include: Julian Lozano, Adrian Lozano, Savier Lozano, Joziah Mendoza, Santiago Madrid, Jose Mendoza and Selena Moreno.

Manuel Lozano, de 70 años, de Vaughn, NM, falleció pacíficamente, rodeado de su amada familia, el lunes 8 de abril de 2024.

Manuel nació el 23 de noviembre de 1953 en Galeana, Chihuahua, México, hijo de Román Lozano y Dolores (Mendoza) Lozano.  

Manuel se crió en Galeana, donde también se casó con Irma Jiménez el 8 de noviembre de 1977.  Manuel trabajó en la construcción y como peón de rancho en varios ranchos en Vaughn y sus alrededores.  Manuel también fue bombero voluntario en el Cuerpo de Bomberos Voluntarios de Durán.

Manuel era una persona a la que le encantaba tomar café, mientras visitaba a familiares y amigos.  Le encantaba el ganado, como el ganado, los caballos y las gallinas, y disfrutaba trabajar con ellos.  También le gustaba navegar y siempre será recordado como una persona que siempre pensó en los demás, primero.  Sin embargo, la mayor alegría de Manuel provenía del tiempo que pasaba con su familia.

A Manuel le preceden en la muerte sus padres, un nieto: Saulito Lozano, y hermanos: José Lozano, Celia Lozano, Leonor Lozano y Teresa Lozano.

A Manuel le sobreviven su esposa: Irma, de la casa familiar, sus hijos: Oscar Lozano, de Roswell, NM, Omar Lozano, de Vaughn, Jaime Lozano de Vaughn, Nubia Lozano (Ramón Hernández), de Cloudcroft, NM y Eric Lozano de Scottsdale, AZ.  A Manuel también le sobreviven nueve nietos y cinco bisnietos, así como numerosos sobrinos, sobrinas, familiares y amigos.

El velorio para familiares y amigos será el jueves 11 de abril de 2024, de 1 a 6 p.m. en la Funeraria Chávez en Santa Rosa.

El rezo del Santísimo Rosario, seguido inmediatamente por la Misa de Entierro Cristiano, será el viernes 12 de abril de 2024, a partir de las 11 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica de Santa María en Vaughn, NM.   El P. Sotero Sena oficiará el servicio.

El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Evergreen, en Vaughn, con Omar Lozano, Jaime Lozano, Eric Lozano, Oscar Lozano, Martín Lozano, Ramón Hernández, Alfredo Medina, Jessie Maestas y Román Rodríguez como portadores del féretro.  Los portadores honoríficos del féretro serán: Julián Lozano, Adrián Lozano, Savier Lozano, Joziah Mendoza, Santiago Madrid, José Mendoza y Selena Moreno.
