Marcelina O. Baca

  Marcelina Baca, 80, of Anton Chico passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at her home on Thursday, July 19, 2018, following an illness. Marcelina was born on November 14, 1937 in Plaza de Arriba, NM to the home of Narciso Olguin and Apolonia (Castillo) Olguin.  While growing up in Plaza de Arriba, she met Juan Baca, and after knowing him only three months, decided he was the love of her life.  That short courtship led to a marriage that lasted 64 years. Marcelina enjoyed her ranch in Dahlia, where she raised her farm animals and spent a great deal of time with family and friends.  She was particularly fond of the time she spent with her special granddaughter, Charlene Lopez, whom she helped raise.  Marcelina was a very humble woman who appreciated all of her friends and family.  She cared for people and was always there to lend a helping hand.  A woman of great faith, Marcelina was devoted to listening to Catholic radio to be able to recite the rosary and follow along in prayer daily.  She was also known for her delicious cooking, baking and fine sewing. Marcelina is preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Horacio Olguin and Narciso Olguin, sister; Nabora Olguin and a great-grandson; Ethan “Buggy” Lopez. She is survived by her husband of 64 years; Juan Baca, daughters; Roberta Jaramillo, Susie Jaramillo (Tony Salazar), Eloisa (Gilbert) Gutierrez, Mary (Louie) Lucero, sons; Wilfred Baca, Luis Baca (Gloria),  Narciso (Terry) Baca, sister; Marcella Martinez, brother; Juan (Clara) Olguin and sister in law Juanita Olguin.  Marcelina is also survived by her grandchildren; Joseph (Amy) Baca, Charlene (Danny) Lopez, Christopher (Trish) Lucero, Kim (Bryan) Villanueva, Larry Jaramillo (Jolene Mowrey), Lyle (Chelsea) Lucero, Kelly Lucero, Ronald Gutierrez, Katrina (Julio) Romero, Nathan Gutierrez, Monique (Joe) Romero, Jackie (Michael) Gabbert, Anthony Kirtley (Misty Jim), Veronica Zambrano and Dillian Lucero-as well as her great-grandchildren; Ricky, Felicity and Aj’sha Chavez, Marcus and Jarred Romero, Marlee and Lyrik Gabbert, Leila Jim, Kristen, Amber and Brandon Lucero, Erin and Zakk Baca, Benjamin and Zoey Jaramillo, Tamara, Ashley and Kevin Villanueva,  and Megan Zambrano. Serving as Pallbearers; Ronald Gutierrez, Larry Jaramillo, Joseph Baca, Christopher Lucero, Lyle Lucero , Ricky Chavez, Danny Lopez, Blas Martinez and Dillian Lucero.  Honorary Pallbearers are; Robert Lucero, Fabian Martinez, Abel Olguin, Gilbert Gutierrez, Louie Lucero, Julio Romero, Bryan Villanueva and Tony Salazar. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be said on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. from San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating.  Interment will follow at Upper Anton Chico Cemetery. All services have been entrusted to Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S. Third St., Santa Rosa, NM  88435
