Margaret Smith

Margaret Joyce (Bivins) Smith, 75, of Melrose, NM was born September 29, 1945 in Lordsburg, NM to Joel Wesley & Lillie Bell (May) Bivins. Margaret went to be with the Lord December 5th, 2020 at La Posada Care Center in Las Cruces, NM. She married Randall Keith “Butch” Smith March 28, 1964 in Lordsburg NM. She was involved in various businesses in Melrose. She loved going to estate sales, running her food wagon at community events throughout New Mexico, and spending time with her family. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Melrose. She is preceded by her father Joel Wesley Bivens, a son Jay Dean Smith, and a brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Linda Bivens. Those left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 56 years, Butch Smith, of Melrose, her sons Greg Hill of Dallas, Dennis Smith of Melrose, her mother, Lillie Bell Bivins of Las Cruces, sisters Janie and Frank Camilletti of Milner, CO, Judy and her husband Wayne Morris of Las Cruces, brothers Melvin Bivens of Las Cruces, five grandchildren Justin, Jessie, Jada, Gregory, and Devin, and numerous family members from Butch’s side. Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, services will be limited to the immediate family. Please keep the Smith family in your prayers. Graveside interment services were held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Melrose Cemetery with Rev. Victor Colton officiating. Her family served as pallbearers.
