Maria Elisa "Elsie" Sisneros Rubio 82, a lifelong resident of Vaughn passed away surrounded by her loved ones on July 9, 2026 at her daughter's home in Clovis. She was born April 22, 1944 in Vaughn, NM to the home of Merenciano and Adelina Maldonado Sisneros. She grew up attending Vaughn Schools and graduated with the VHS class of 1964.
Elsie loved the community of Vaughn, and was a very active community member. A very loving mother, she raised her four children Annette, Elizabeth, Theresa, and Eddie in Vaughn. Elsie drove a school bus for Vaughn schools for many years. She also served her community and worked over 50 years as an election official. She enjoyed going to the Vaughn Senior Citizen Center and loved all the bingo she played there. She was active in the HelpNM Senior Companion Program.
Elsie was a lifelong member and active parishoner of Saint Mary's Catholic Church. She was always there to help with the fiestas.
Elsie was a great crafter and enjoyed sewing, quilting, embriodery and diamond art. She also liked to bake. She was known to always have a puzzle book around or with her. She enjoyed trips to the casino. Most of all, Elsie enjoyed being Gram and Great-Gram to her grandkids and great-grandkids. Time with her family is what she cherised the most.
Maria Elisa is preceded in death by her parents, one son Eddie Sisneros, three brothers Andrew Sisneros, Bobby Sisneros, and Merenciano Sisneros Jr, and one sister Rita Marino.
She is survived by her three daughters Annette (Arnold) Iribarren of Lakewood, CA, Elizabeth (Carlos) Rios of Clovis, NM, and Theresa Sisneros of Clovis. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren Arnie (Michelle) Iribarren of Temucla, CA, Deidre (Tyler) Iribarren Cypress, CA, Isaac Rubio of Stillwater, OK, Daniel (Robin) Crouthamel of Pittsburgh, PA, Ashlee Koonce of Witchita Falls, TX, Adrianna (Logan) Torres of Roswell, NM, Krista Torres of Clovis, NM, Edward (Rachel) Sisneros of Dallas, TX, and Arianna (Jason) Sisneros-James of Albuquerque,NM, and 5 great grandchildren Vincet Telles, Angelo Segura, Isaac Rubio Jr, Kason Koonce, and Draven Torres. Also surviving is one brother Orlin Sisneros of Clovis, NM along with a host of neces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by the Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am on Saturday July 18, 2026 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM with Father Tim Meurer celebrating the service. Interment to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, NM with Michael Sisneros, Victor Sisneros, Aaron Duran, Manuel Sisneros, Tyler Dunn, and Logan Clemmer serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Arnold Iribarren, Joe Torres, and Carlos Rios.
