Martha Ann Garza

Martha Ann (Saiz) Garza, age 60, of Santa Rosa and a former resident of Duran and Corona passed away Friday, February 09, 2018 at NM Heart Hospital in Albuquerque following a short illness. She was born November 30, 1957 in Albuquerque to the home of Bennie and Carmen I. Saiz. She attended school at La Luz Elementary and Garfield Jr. High in Albuquerque. She attended high school at Encino where she graduated in 1977.Martha married Gene Garza on August 6, 1977 in Duran. They made their home in Vaughn for a short two weeks before moving to Corona for 25 years. Martha worked at cafe's in Vaughn and Corona and also baby sat for several families. She loved all the children she cared for over the years. Martha also worked in the lunch room at the Corona schools for 12 years. She loved baking cakes and sweets for everyone in Corona. Martha and Gene made their home in Santa Rosa in 2001.She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing games on her phone. She was a member of the Blockheads, a Santa Rosa quilting group. She enjoyed the monthly meetings. She always brought home made goods, bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, pumpkin rolls, and cherry mash and peanut butter cups.Martha especially enjoyed spending time with her grandsons Kevin and Jacob.Martha is preceded in death by her parents Bennie and Carmen Saiz, two brothers Leandro Joe Saiz Sr., and Robert Anthony Saiz and two sisters Mary Genieve Baragon and Grace Maestas and a nephew Armando Maestas.Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gene Garza of the home in Santa Rosa, her daughter Anna Garza DiBartolemeo and her son Bennie Garza both of Santa Rosa, two grandsons Kevin Lopez and Jacob Garza, two sisters Gloria Kern and Geri Cano both of Albuquerque, also surviving are many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and many friends.Mass of christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa.
