Mary Cordova

Mary A. Cordova “Little Mary”, 79 of Tucumcari, NM passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024.

Mary was born on November 20, 1944 in Mosquero, NM  to Emilio Lucero and Estella (Apodaca) Lucero.  Mary was raised in Tucumcari, NM, where she attended school.  On January 6, 1962, Mary married Isabel Espicio Cordova at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari.

Aside from raising her family, Mary worked in hospitality as a waitress, retiring in 2017.  Mary is remembered as a Christian mother and a parishioner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents: Emilio and Estella Lucero and Cipriano and Rita Sandoval, her husband: Isabel in 1988, her daughter: Sandra Dee Cordova-Heredia, her granddaughter: Lila Rachel Diaz, grandsons: Chase Bass Cordova and James R. Johnson, siblings: Mary Stump and Herman Sandoval and in-law: Kelly Biggers.

Mary is survived by her children: Della (Jose) Garcia, Emily (Jim) Johnson, Patsy (Ramon) Gomez, Sofie Whitney, Lawrence R. (Barbara), Ernest M. Cordova, Joseph R. Cordova, son-in-law: Daniel Heredia, her siblings: Benjie (Rita) Sandoval of Amarillo, TX, Richard Sandoval of Vega, TX, Junior (Cherly) Sandoval of Guymon, OK, Susie (Roger) Jeffries of Stratford, TX, Luci Lauer of Texoma, OK and Pat (Jack) Hagelstein of Roswell, NM.  

Mary is also survived by her grandchildren: Tiffany (Miguel) Romero, Jamie Johnson, Michelle Burton, Melinda Harrison, Lenor (Ruben) Romero, Robert Isabel Gomez (Marcelina), Gabriel M. Cordova, Serah J. Cordova, Listisha (Mike) Vargas, Brittney Whitney (Joseph), Jonathan (Baily) Martinez, Amy (Adam) Rodriquez, Isacc A. Diaz, Isaiah A. Diaz, Aarron P. (Karen) Heredia, Estella Cordova, Joseph P. Cordova, Elyssa R. Cordova, Jaques E. Cordova, 50 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous family, relatives and friends.

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary will be Monday, May 27, 2024 at 6PM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, NM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 1PM at St. Anne’s Catholic Church with Father Cameron Degani celebrating the service.

Interment will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park, with Joseph P. Cordova, Jr., Gabriel M. Cordova, Adam Rodriquez, Aarron Heredia, Jonathan Martinez, Robert Isabel Gomez and Ray Anthony Johnson-Garcia serving as Pallbearers.
