Mary Lou Velasquez

Mary Lou Velasquez of Santa Rosa passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Sunday April 26, 2026. She was 88 years old.

Mary Lou was born on April 10, 1938 at the home of Frank and Ramoncita (Chavez) Trujillo in Palma, NM. Her Family included brothers and sisters – Tranquilino, Chonita, Rafelita and Fred.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband David, son Lawrence, parents Frank & Ramoncita, brothers Tranquilino & Fred and sister Rafelita.

Mary Lou was an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many others.

She loved her life and had a very loving heart; she truly loved her grandchildren & great- grandchildren as she attended & supported them in all their events and competitions. She will be greatly missed by all and she will now become their Guardian Angel as she passes through the Gates of Heaven.

Mary Lou attended Elementary, Junior High and graduated from Moriarty High School in 1957. She married David Velasquez in 1960. Together they had - David Walter, Angela (Raymond) Chavez, Susan (Ray) Zamora and twins Leonard (Alice) and Lawrence (deceased).

She had 12 grandchildren - (David)- Frank (Fran), and Marisela. (Angela) -Lorenzo, Lucas, and Leanza. (Susan) - Ray, Daniel (Stephanie), Michael (Barry), and Katie. (Leonard) - Lawrence, Isaac (Marissa), and Fallon. Also 8 great-grandchildren (Daniel) - Daniel, Kynadii, Samarah, Jase. (Isaac) - Corey & Casey, (Frank) Elijah & Enzo.

Mary Lou worked as a waitress at Clines Corners, and in Santa Rosa - Club Cafe Restaurant. She was also a full-time homemaker.

Pallbearers for Mary Lou will be all her grandsons - Frank, Lorenzo, Lucas, Ray, Daniel, Michael, Lawrence and Isaac.

Honorary Pallbearers include Marisela, Leanza, Katie, Fallon, Lorraine Sandoval and Jerry Trujillo.

Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 1-6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

Services for Mary Lou will be Friday, May 1, 2026 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, beginning at 10am with the Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary and followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Reverend Jacob Romero will be celebrating the service.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa.
