Mary A Romero

Mary A. Romero, 82, a resident of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2019, at Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa with her family at her side. Mary was born on December 15, 1936, in Anton Chico, NM to the home of Candelario and Lola (Saiz) Jasper and was raised by her uncle and aunt Camilo and Lorencita Saiz, she was reared and attended school in Anton Chico. On July 27, 1956, Mary was united in marriage to Merenciano F. Romero at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa where they remained faithful parishioners and where Mary served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of Las Hijas de Maria. Mary worked as a waitress for many area restaurants until her retirement and loved to sew, make quilts, arts and crafts, bake, work on crossword puzzles and read. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Candelario and Lola Jasper; adoptive parents Camilo and Lorencita Saiz; and granddaughter Crystal Coulter. Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years Mr. Merenciano F. Romero of the family home in Santa Rosa, NM, children; Florence Trujillo and husband Larry of Farmington, NM, Marie Burguete and husband Daniel of Vaughn, NM, Anthony Romero and wife Sarah of North Carolina, Tricia Gauna and husband Ike of Santa Rosa, NM, and Ricardo Romero of Albuquerque, NM; as well 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, faithful companion and Pride-N-Joy, her pet dog Squirt E. Romero, and numerous family and friends. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary followed by the Mass of Christian burial will take place on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 10 am from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM with Father Christopher Bernabe celebrating the Mass. Burial of cremains will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa with Adolpho Romero, Tudy Romero, Dan Romero, Johnny Romero, Jacob Burguete and Daniel Burguete serving as urn bearers.
