Patsy Ruth Bruce, age 77 of Melrose, New Mexico passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas following an illness. She was born in Clovis NM, on May 14, 1949 to the home of Dean and Ruth (Mize) Myers. Patsy was raised on the family farm in Greer NM.

Patsy married Leslie Bruce on July 21, 1967 in Clovis, NM. They made their home in Melrose NM where they raised their three children, Brian (Tammy) Bruce of Grants NM, Kari (Jim Bob) Allen of Melrose and Dean (D’Llaynn) Bruce of Melrose. 9 Grandchildren Cheyenne Bruce, Kevyn (Cody) Mckay, Grace (Kaden) Winborg, Trey Bruce, Beau Bruce, July (Kyler) Miller, Rowdy (Shelby) Allen, Sassy (Sorrell) Allen, and Jaryn Bruce. 7 Great-Grandchildren, Brenna Bruce, Brylee Bruce, Bailey Bruce, LJ Miller, Sawyer Miller, Knox Allen and Stone Allen.

Patsy drove a school bus for over 30 years for both Melrose and Clovis school districts. She also served at the Melrose cheer sponsor for several years. Patsy and Leslie were passionate about supporting all their grandchildren’s activities. Patsy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, a dedicated homemaker, and an exceptional seamstress. She loved cross-stitch and needle work and wood working. She took great pride in creating custom cross-stitch and Christmas stockings for her kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. According to Rowdy, Nanny could sew the Grand Canyon back together. Patsy enjoyed camping, fishing, water skiing, gardening and cooking especially cream pies and Taffy for her family.

Patsy accepted her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was an active member of Melrose First Baptist Church, supporting the Awana’s and youth programs and all other church activities. She enjoyed her Dorcas Sunday school class and loved the ladies she spent every Sunday morning with. She loved to help with in the kitchen with vacation bible school. Patsy and Leslie were active supporters of the Melrose Youth Center.

Patsy is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Leslie Bruce on February 22, 2020, a sister Ann Bond, and her parents.

Patsy is survived by her 3 children, son Brian (Tammy) Bruce of Grants NM and grandchildren Cheyenne, Kevyn, Grace, Trey and Beau, daughter, Kari (Jim Bob) Allen of Melrose NM, grandchildren July, Rowdy and Sass Allen, son Dean (D’Llaynn) Bruce of Melrose, grandchild Jaryn Bruce also surviving are 7 Great-Grandchildren, two brothers Wesley (Sonya) Myers of Ranchville, NM and Bill (Debbie) Myers of Melrose along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Visitation hours for family and friends will be Wednesday, May 27th from 1pm to 7pm. The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, May 28, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Melrose, NM with Pastor Tyler Eanes officiating. Interment will follow in the Bruce family plot, Melrose Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Patsy’s grandchildren, Cheyenne Bruce, July Miller, Rowdy Allen, Jaryn Bruce, Sass Allen, Kyler Miller, Shelby Allen. Honorary bearers will be all her family and friends.
