Remigio “Reme” Baca, 63 of Santa Rosa, NM, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM.
Remigio was born to Alfonso Baca and Delma (Sisneros) Baca on January 28, 1960 in Santa Rosa, NM. Remigio was raised in Santa Rosa, where he also attended school. A life-long resident of Santa Rosa, Remigio worked in ranching, landscaping and also fixed windmills. He was a parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church and chaired the church fiestas for many years.
In his spare time, Remigio enjoyed fishing and cooking. He was always willing to help anyone in need and is remembered as having a heart of gold. Remigio’s greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family, especially his pride and joy, his granddaughters and great-grandson.
Remigio is preceded in death by his father: Alfonso R. Baca, Sr., his brother: Alfonso M. Baca, Jr., paternal grandfather: Remigio Baca, paternal grandmother and step-grandfather: Juanita Baca-Griego and Antonio Griego, maternal grandparents: Fidel and Celestina Sisneros, father and mother-in-law: Santiago and Ernestine Ortega and his great-niece: Jocelyn Pacheco.
Remigio is survived by his daughters: Brenda (Carl) Swaggart and Adriana (Jose) Baca, his grandchildren: Katie (Enrico) Swaggart and Kimberly (Daniel) Swaggart, his great-grandson: Enrico “Bubba” Tenorio and soon to be great-granddaughter: Tenorio. Also surviving Remigio are his mother: Delma Baca, his sisters: Martha (Felipe) Hoehne, Patricia (Joe) Sena, Rose (Reymundo) Baca, Diane Baca and Juanita Baca and the mother of his children: Nancy Gomez. Diane Flores, Christine Madero and Lala Pacheco are remembered as special friends, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, uncles and aunts, and numerous friends, including all his coffee buddies.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, August 20, 2023, from 1-6PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.
Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 21, 2023 beginning at 10AM at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, NM.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa with Paul Sisneros, Jimmy Baca, Ricardo Pacheco, Jonathan Urioste, Jonathan Encinias, Jared Dees, Diego Herrera and Ray Zamora serving as Pallbearers.
Face masks are encouraged for all services.
