Richard Saiz

Richard Saiz, passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2025, at Guadalupe County Hospital. Born on October 22, 1975, in Ft. Sumner, NM, Richard was raised in Santa Rosa, where he attended school and later built a life rich with family, work, and interests that brought him joy.

As a self-employed mechanic, Richard dedicated himself to his craft, honing his skills while working for various establishments, including notable restaurants such as Denny's and Corn Construction. His work ethic and expertise in mechanics made him a respected figure among his peers.

Richard was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where he contributed to the life of his community. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, activities that connected him with nature and brought him peace. Above all, Richard cherished the time spent with his family and friends, finding great joy in being an uncle and a devoted son to his mother.

He is survived by his loving mother, Frances Ulibarri of Santa Rosa, NM, and biological father Richard Antonio Lucero of Belen, NM. Richard leaves behind six children: Richard A. Saiz, Jr. of Wyoming; Jose Saiz of Taos, NM; Isaiah and Alyssa Saiz, both of Wyoming; and Maya and Felicity Saiz, both of Santa Rosa. He is also survived by his siblings: Bernice (Kenny) Tenorio, Rex Saiz both of Santa Rosa, NM, Michael Saiz Ehgartner (Ryan) of Las Vegas, NV, Jennifer Ulibarri (Nathan) of Albuquerque, and Andrea (Jayce) Martinez of Las Vegas, NM. Additionally, he is remembered by his three grandchildren, as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him deeply.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving father, Thomas Ulibarri; maternal grandparents, Adelaido and Dolores Saiz; paternal grandparents, Candelario and Lina Lucero; maternal great-grandmother, Esmeralda Barela; and several uncles and aunts who have gone before him, including Gilbert Saiz, Raymond Saiz, Joe Saiz, Maryann Saiz, Joann Martinez, Dolores Coronado, Jane Garcia, and Terry Chavez.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 2-5PM at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa.

Services for Richard will be Friday, December 19, 2025 beginning at 10AM with the Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary, then followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, with Father Jacob Romero celebrating the service.

Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Jose Saiz, Richard Saiz, Jr., Isaiah Saiz, Joshua Tenorio, Joshua Tenorio, Jr. Robert Saiz, Sr., Robert Saiz, Jr., Kenny Tenorio and Nathan Carabajal serving as Pallbearers.

Services are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa, 923 S. Third St., Santa Rosa, NM 88435. 575-472-3369.

His memory will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared with all who had the privilege to know him.
