Robert S. Chavez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on November 23, 2025, at the age of 64. Born in Belen, New Mexico, on June 3, 1961, Robert's life was enriched by the many roles he embraced and the community he cherished.
Throughout his career, Robert worked as a commercial glass installer and glazier, a mechanic, and a bartender, showcasing his incredible versatility. He was also well-known as the owner/operator of R and R Snow Cones, where his renowned burritos, beef jerky, and snow cones delighted many. His culinary talents brought joy to friends, family, and customers alike, creating lasting memories around shared meals.
Robert's passion for community engagement extended beyond his professional endeavors. He was a devoted parishioner at San Jose Catholic Church in Anton Chico, where he married the former Rachel Baca on May 7, 2011. Making his home in Dilia and Anton Chico since 2006, Robert's contributions and kindness left a mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
An enthusiastic member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post 13 in Albuquerque, Robert found joy in giving back. His heart was especially visible when he dressed as Santa Claus, bringing delight to children at the Children's Hospital during the holiday season.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Rachel Chavez; his children, Crystal Chavez (Anthony), Robert Chavez (Angel), Vincent Chavez, and Timothy Montoya (Ana); and his cherished grandchildren, Diviniti Amphy, Malakai Amphy, Elizabeth Lovato, Angel Lovato, Ailani Varela, and Kaelyn Varela. He is also survived by his siblings, Amy Chavez and Toby Chavez, as well as his in-laws, Barbara and Bobby Jaramillo, Dorothy Lopez, and Levy Lujan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Irene Gutierrez and Amadeo Chavez, as well as his siblings, Danny Chavez and Gabriel Chavez. Robert also mourned the loss of his paternal grandparents, Placida and Adrian Chavez, his maternal grandparents, Rose and Dan Trujillo, and his mother and father-in-law, Benito and Abenicia Baca.
Robert's life will be celebrated with a series of services at San Jose Catholic Church, located at 1081 Iglesia Rd in Anton Chico, New Mexico. A rosary will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM. The funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 10:00 AM, with Father Timothy Meurer officiating. Robert will be laid to rest at San Jose Catholic Cemetery, with Antonio Jaramillo, Patricio Jaramillo, Miguel Lucero, Remi Cordova, Chad Walters, Anthony Maestas, Raymond Chavez, Timothy Montoya, Robert Chavez and Vincent Chavez serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are David Cordova, Albert Chavez, Toby Chavez, Anthony Jones, Diviniti Amphy, Malakai Amphy, Anelysia Jaramillo and Elianna Jaramillo.

Robert Chavez touched countless lives with his generosity, humor, and love. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by all.
