Robert Mares

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Dad, and Pop, Robert Mares. He passed away peacefully in the early morning of Friday, July 24, 2026, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 25, 1938, in Yeso, New Mexico and served his country proudly from January 1955 - 1959 in the United States Navy.

In 1956, Robert married the love of his life, Erma Baca, on September 8, 1956. Together they raised a beautiful family with 6 kids.

Robert was an electrician by trade but a master of all trades. He loved his Family and spending time with his Grand kids, great grand kids. He loved camping, fishing and any chance he and Erma could get would take his grand kids on small vacations.

Robert is survived by his wife, Erma, his daughters, Susan Garcia (Louis), Albuquerque, NM, Rose Fernandez ( Joseph), Santa Rosa, NM, his sons, Ronnie Marez (Janet), Albuquerque, NM, Robert aka Bobby Marez (Suzie), Stanley, NM, Steve Marez (Jennifer), Albuquerque, NM and Michael Sam Marez, Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by 15 Grandchildren; Sandy Candelaria (Jay), Joseph Baca (Natalia), Joshua Baca, Lauren Sosa (Carlos), Leanne Mares (Robert), Jacob Marez, Justin Marez (Shandra), Desiree Marez (Nelson), Stephanie Fernandez, Dominic Fernandez (Marissa), Jude Marez, Daniel Marez, Jonah Marez, Madison Perea and Bradley Perea and 11 Great Grandkids.

He was so deeply loved by his family. The presence he brought into our lives will stay with us, always. And now, waking up and knowing he’s gone. . . it hits hard. It hits in a way we were not ready for.

He is proceeded in death by his daughter, Sandra, his parents, Margarito and Eulogia Mares and brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at French’s Mortuary located a 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 5:00pm-7:00pm

Funeral service will be held Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11:00 am, also at French Mortuary, with burial at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM
