Sheila Coddington

Sheila K. Coddington died at the age of 59, at Saint Anthony's Health and Rehab Center in Clovis, NM on Tuesday morning, August 17th, following a longtime illness. She was born February 23, 1962 in Monticello, Arkansas to the home of Eugene and Myrtle Coddington. As a child she lived in different areas in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. She graduated from Elida High School in 1980. Following her high school graduation she made her home in Fort Sumner in June of 1980, where she would prove herself to be a hard worker. She worked at Sumner Lake State Park for one year, from August 1980 to August of 1981. She worked many years at the DeBaca County News from October 1981 to April of 1994. She then co-owned at operated the Fort Sumner Journal from 1994 to 1995 while also working as a cashier at RJ Cook Oil Company. She worked at the USPS from August of 1997 to May of 2014, when her health forced her to retire early. Sheila enjoyed her dogs, working in her yard, knitting and reading. Sheila is survived by her ex-husband Teddy Dotson of Clovis, NM, two brothers Bill Coddington (Irene) of Fort Sumner, and David Coddington of Portales. One sister, Lori Gwen Baxley of Oklahoma. Two nieces Amy Coddington Archuleta (Eric) of Clovis, NM, and Aleesha Adcock of Searcy, AR. Also surviving are six nephews, Jesse Coddington (Mandy) of Flagstaff, AZ, Michael Neece, Chuck Neece, Keith Bush, and Daniel and Wesley Baxley. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Rick Coddington, and sisters Margaret Taylor and Vickie Neece. Cremation will take place, followed by interment in Monticello, AR as these were her last wishes. Please keep all of the Coddington family in your prayers during this time. Arrangements are under the care of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
