Telesfor Zamora

March 3, 1931 — July 26, 2020

Telesfor Zamora, 89 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020, at his sister's home in Clovis. He was born March 3, 1931, near present-day Lake Sumner to the home of Lucio and Amada (Lopez) Zamora. He was raised in Fort Sumner. Telesfor worked for many years as a farm laborer, loading and transporting alfalfa hay in the Fort Sumner valley. He also worked as a handyman. He was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. He loved to fish, deer hunt, and especially enjoyed time spent visiting with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Felicita Zamora, Elvira Benoist, and Natividad Gonzales, five brothers Ben Zamora, Juan De Dios Zamora, Manuel Zamora, Eliseo Zamora, Mariano Zamora, and a nephew Tommy Benoist. Survivors include three sisters Sylveria Crispin, Lolita Cornejo, and Betty Gonzales and husband Fred, a brother in law Rumaldo Gonzales all of Clovis along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, private family services were held. Please keep Telesfor and his family in your prayers. Holy Rosary was recited at 10:00 am Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside interment services followed in the Zamora family plot, Fort Sumner Cemetery with Father Sotero Sena officiating. Pallbearers were Fred Gonzales, Michael Gonzales, Ricky Sanchez, Wesley Lockwood, Connie Loyd, Kathleen Lockwood. Honorary bearers included Danny Sanchez, Dennis Chavez, Glen Boyd, and David Kenyon. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, New Mexico. (575) 355-2311.
