Theresa "T" Ann Nichols, 84 of Fort Sumner passed away at her home Sunday, January 14, 2023 following an illness. She was born March 13, 1939 in Malone, New York to the home of Richard and Beatrice (Bertrand) Nichols. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Malone, NY, and later attended nursing school in Virginia.

Theresa served in the United States Navy  from September 9, 1958 until her honorable discharged on September 6, 1961. She worked as a nurse at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY for 32 years. Theresa and Joie made the Fort Sumner valley their home on April 7, 1994.

Theresa loved sports, football, baseball, lacrosse, and horse racing. She was a fan of the NY Giants football team, Brooklyn Dodgers Baseball, and an avid fan of all Syracuse University sports. Theresa was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner.

Thresa is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Mary Bartosik and Patricia Malark, and one niece Claire Nolen.

Survivors include her life partner Joie Wreyford of the home in Fort Sumner, one sister Joan Griffin and her husband Robert of Potsdam, NY, along with several nieces and nephews including Robert Nolen and his wife Tracy of Cibolo, Texas.

Holy rosary followed by the funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 18, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Interment of cremains with military honors will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
