Tito S. Vigil "Blue", 76 of Fort Sumner, New Mexico passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at his Fort Sumner home. Tito was born on November 1, 1949 in Cuervo, NM to the home of Agapito Vigil and Dorotea Benavidez Vigil. He attended Cuervo schools, and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1967.
Tito married Cathy Blea on July 30, 1968 at St Anthony Church in Fort Sumner.
Tito was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the US Army. After his honorable discharge, Tito worked for BNSF Railroad. He was a maintenance of way trackman for 32 years. He retired in 2004.
Tito was a member at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church, in Fort Sumner. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion of Clovis, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Tito enjoyed hunting, car shows, rebuilding pick ups, and working in his yard. His greatest joy came from being with his family. Tito was a loving husband, a great father, and the best Pompo to his grandchildren.
Tito is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Raymond Vigil, Rudy Vigil, Steve Vigil, and a sister Angie Quintana.
Tito is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Cathy Vigil of the family home in Fort Sumner, 3 sons Stevie (Cora) Vigil of Clovis, NM, Eric Vigil of Laramie, Wyoming, and Aurelio Vigil of Fort Sumner, one daughter Nicole (Brent) Moyer of Fort Sumner, and 9 grandchildren. Also surviving are 4 sisters Fedilia Grooms of Tucumcari, NM, Virginia Campos of Santa Rosa, NM, Liz (Larry) Apodaca of Santa Rosa, NM, and Bertha Barrett of West Virginia, one brother Patrick Vigil of Alamogordo, NM, and a special niece Alice Lovato of Raton, NM. Tito is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1pm to 6pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at the funeral home.
A Holy Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM with Father Jacob Romero officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Garden of Love, Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Brent Moyer, Dominic Salazar, Santana Campos, Aurelio Jr Vigil, Antonio Blue Vigil, Stephan Vigil and Nate Pieper.
