Tommy Curtis Jones

Surrounded by his loving family, Tommy Curtis Jones passed away late afternoon Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Rust Presbyterian Medical Center in Rio Rancho, NM. Tommy was born on November 25, 1958 in Tucumcari, NM to Walter and Edith Marie Jones. Tommy was raised in Tucumcari, where he also attended school, graduating from Tucumcari High School in 1977. He was married to Kaylene Shook on February 9, 1979 in Tucumcari. Tommy was the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor with Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari for 23 and a half years—he was also an Education Instructor for the State of New Mexico. A life-long resident of Tucumcari, Tommy was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He and Mrs. Jones were very active with multiple organizations in the community involving the advancement of children. Being a family man, Tommy was an avid hunter and angler with his grandchildren. He also greatly enjoyed the time he spent with his family. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Walter (Sonny) Jones and Bennie Ray Jones and his nephew; Ricky Jones. Tommy is survived by his wife of 43 years; Kaylene Jones, his daughters; Christy Jones, Joni Jones, Jamie Jones (Nemie Salvador), Stephanie Jones and Bruce Jones, his grandchildren; Melanie Jones, Tyrus Jones, Jasmine Jones, Curtis Gonzales, Baylee Jones Salvador, Joyce Jones Salvador and Damien Jones Salvador, his sisters; Elizabeth Stewart and Lynn (Ronnie) Russell and his brothers; Billy Jones, Bobby Jones and Jesse Jones. Visitation will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 1-6pm at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa and on Friday, October 8 from 9-10am at The First Baptist Church in Tucumcari. Funeral services for Tommy will be Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10am at The First Baptist Church in Tucumcari with Pastor Dereck Owen officiating. Interment will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park with Kenny McKinney, Franklin McCasland, Dallas Russell, Wayne Mercer, Keith Bowen, Bruce Jones, Josh Enriquez and Lee Russell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be; Melanie Jones, Jasmine Jones, Curtis Gonzales, Tyrus Jones, Baylee Jones Salvador, Joyce Jones Salvador, Damien Jones Salvador and Nemie Salvador.
