Veronica Renee Martinez

Veronica Renee Martinez, 31, of Tucumcari, NM, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Veronica was born in Tucumcari, NM to the home of Rory D. and Charlotte (Marquez) Martinez on September 29, 1986.  She was raised in Las Vegas, NM and Albuquerque, NM, where she attended school. Veronica made her home in Tucumcari where she worked in the hospitality industry for Fairfield Inn and Suites.  She was a devoted mother who especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  In her spare time, her hobbies included drawing and stargazing, as she enjoyed Mother Nature and the great outdoors.  She loved animals and music.  She was also a parishioner at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Veronica is preceded in death by her Grandfather, Carlos Marquez, Sr., Great-grandmother, Marcelina Maestas, Uncle, Louie Martinez and her cousin Joe Martinez. She is survived by her son; Adrial Jose “AJ” Grim, daughters; Cierra Rae Grim and Alexis Marie Shankles, her companion Marc Shankles, her parents; Rory and Charlotte Martinez, sisters; Vanessa Martinez (Joe Terrazas), Valerie Martinez (Patrick Otero) and brother; Andrew Martinez.  She is also survived by her grandparents; Maria Maestas and Victor and Maida Martinez, as well as numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. from Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, 306 W. High St. in Tucumcari, NM, followed by Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Anne’s, with Father  John Paul Oluchi Afuecheta officiating.  Interment will follow at Tucumcari Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday, April 16, 2018 from 1-6 P.M. and Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 1-4 P.M. at Chavez Funeral Home in Santa Rosa. Serving as Pallbearers are; Adrial Jose “AJ” Grim, Andrew Martinez, Johnny Marquez, Joseph Terrazas, Pat Otero and Josiah England.  Honorary Pallbearers are; Josie Abeyta, Jazlynne England, Raylinna Boydston and Jeremiah Naranjo.
