Violet L. Edwards

Miss Violet Lorene Edwards, 82, a longtime Fort Sumner, NM resident passed away Thursday, December 06, 2018 at St. Anthony Healthcare in Clovis. She was born January 13, 1936 in Las Vegas, NM, the daughter of Delman Torrbet Edwards and Edith Fay (Downs) Edwards. Violet was raised in Fort Sumner. She worked for 20 years as a wool presser at Bill's Cleaners (Keep-U-Neat), she worked for one year as an assistant cook at Fort Sumner Schools and also worked as a Special Education Aide for one year. For over 20 years she worked at Frank's Country Store in Fort Sumner. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Violet is preceded in death by, a nephew Bobby Mike Edwards in 1976, a brother Chester Edwards in 1990, her mother Edith Fay Edwards in 1997, her father D.T. "Slim" Edwards in 1998, and her sister Hazel Edwards on December 07, 2017. Survivors include two nieces Sandi House and Melinda Edwards, and three nephews Ronny Edwards, Steve Edwards, and Harold Edwards. Memorial contributions in Violet's memory may be made to the Fort Sumner Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 180, Fort Sumner, NM 88119.  Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner with Rev. Marvin Pounds officiating.
