Virginia Nancy Saiz

Long-time Los Lunas, NM resident, Virginia Nancy Gallegos Saiz, 67, passed away in Albuquerque, NM on January 7, 2024. 

Virginia, “Nana” was born on May 7, 1956 in Vaughn, NM to Reynaldo and Isabel Gallegos.

After graduating high school, Virginia moved to Albuquerque, NM to attend St. Joseph College, where she received her bachelor degree in Special Education.  She started her family and began working as a substitute teacher.  She then began working at Adobe Acres, then decided to join Los Padillas Elementary School.  Virginia retired after 35+ years of teaching.

Nana’s hobbies included traveling, cooking, baking and going to church—and her love in going to the casino!  However, Nana’s true passion came from the time she spent with her family—especially being able to help raise her three beautiful grandchildren, and her dog Izzy. 

Nana’s acceptance of all, her compassion and selflessness will be missed by all—especially her family.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Raymond Saiz and her son: Moises Saiz.

Virginia is survived by her daughter: Amanda Saiz, her grandchildren: Dominick, Diego and Serenity, her brothers: Freddy (Marie) Gallegos and Richard (Peggy) Gallegos, as well as numerous family, relatives and friends.

Nana, you will be missed—fly high until we meet again!

Recitation of The Most Holy Rosary immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will Friday, January 19, 2024 at 10AM at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM.  Services will be officiated by Father Timothy Meurer.

Interment of cremains will follow in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn.
