Gilbert Lucero

Gilbert Lucero, 70 of Vaughn, NM and Santa Rosa, NM passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2021. Gilbert was born on April 15, 1951 in Clovis, NM to Boni Lucero and Anita Saiz. Gilbert was raised in Pintada, NM, and Vaughn, NM, graduating from Vaughn High School in 1970. Gilbert was an all-around ranch hand working on various ranches in Guadalupe County. He had a vast knowledge regarding sheep and was an expert sheep shearer. More recently, Gilbert was employed by the City of Santa Rosa. Gilbert was a man of faith and was a parishioner at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents; Boni Lucero and Anita Saiz. Gilbert is survived by his daughters; Doreen Farrar (Eric) of Ft. Worth, TX, and Loretta Castillo of Vaughn, NM, and his son; Christopher Lucero of Rio Rancho, NM, mother of his children; Kathie Lucero, his sisters; Dulcinea Lucero of Albuquerque, NM, Sandra Lucero of Vaughn, NM, Trinnie Rodriguez (Rafael) of Vaughn, NM and his brother; Paul Lucero of Vaughn, NM. Gilbert is also survived by his grandchildren; Kianna Farrar, Kyle Farrar, Antonio Castillo, Reena Castillo, Sanaie Castillo, Lydia Castillo, Ozzlynn Castillo, Avyn Lucero and Emma Lucero and a great-grandson; Isaac Castillo. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 25, 2021 from 1pm-4pm at Chavez Funeral Home, 923 S. Third St., Santa Rosa, NM. Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10am at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Father Timothy Meurer. Gilbert will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery with Antonio Castillo, Lawrence Salazar, Marcos Lucero, Esiquel Lucero, Angelo Lucero and Rafael Rodriguez serving as Pallbearers and Avyn Lucero as Honorary Pallbearer.
