Pita was born in Santa Rosa, New Mexico to Juan Pablo and Andrea Gutierrez of Santa Rosa, New Mexico. Following graduation from Santa Rosa High School Pita worked for Civil Service working in New Mexico and finally settling in Las Vegas, Nevada until retirement. Pita enjoyed the casinos, the Las Vegas shows and entertainment. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Bridgit Catholic Church in Las Vegas.
